The public open spaces create identity and provide orientation. The central boulevard refers to the military past of the citadel and barracks. The neighborhood promenade connects the station with the future places of action, the neighborhood and festival square at the Panzerhalle. The promenade at the Citadel takes advantage of the sunny southern exposure and the neighborhood of the Citadel. The park areas around the quarter and citadel connect the Eselsberg to the city and integrate surrounding neighborhoods. The communal open spaces promote neighborhoods
The traffic-calmed residential streets with their multifunctional front zones provide a variety of usable community space.
The private open spaces secure spaces of retreat.
The private open spaces of the neighborhood are arranged from east to west:
– Gardens in the west to the green corridor
– Garden courtyards in the block interiors
– Courtyards along the barracks on Mähringer Weg
Within the gardens, garden courtyards and courtyards are numerous private garden terraces on the 1st floor and roof gardens on the 4th floor.
