New headquarters of Krzysztof Kieslowski Silesian University Katowice
Architecture: OVO Grąbczewscy Architekci Year: 2011
The open spaces of the new Faculty of Radio and Television named after Krzysztof Kieślowski of the Silesian University in Katowice assume the function of connecting the buildings. The square cut out of the block is understood as a point of contact with the city meadow.
The main square, the showcases and the roof garden improved the unified surface. The smallest unit of area is the digital “pixel”.By creating a structure of mosaic-like “pixels”, it contrasts with the factual, simple form of the cubature object. “Pixels” have the same shape and are sized to fit the size of a given spatial unit.
