GLORIA BERLIN 2021 – The two office and commercial buildings Kurfürstendamm No. 12 and No. 14 / 15 are located on Berlin’s famous promenade between Gedächtniskirche and Kranzlereck. In addition to Kurfürstendamm as the entrance to the buildings, the task was to design attractive and functionally effective inner courtyards and roof terraces for the office and commercial buildings.
KURFÜRSTENDAMM
Kurfürstendamm recedes in a uniform design as a stage for urban life. Discreet, effective lighting accentuates the façade and the display cases in the evening and at night. The showcases and shop windows make their appearance.
ROOF TERRACES
The roof terraces take up the elegant materiality of the old building in natural stone look and the old building in high-quality concrete block. The reserved, yet clearly distinguishable colours of the individual buildings are emphasised. The equipment consists of solid wooden benches. Each courtyard is given its own character, ranging from the tranquil sunken garden, the foamy grass fields, the wild plant garden and the introverted glass roof terraces to the private garden of the old building. Finally, on the roofs, the dark and light splitting, as well as individual planting adapted to the dark and light building, take up the architectural language.
